New Bern Fabric Center was established in 1974 and purchased by Carole and James Hall in 1987. The store is located in historical New Bern, North Carolina which was founded in 1710 by Christopher de Graffenried of Berne, Switzerland. New Bern is the 2nd oldest city and the Colonial Capital of North Carolina.

Our experienced sales staff, teachers and service technicians come from a diverse background in public education, business, social work, government and farming to share their love for sewing. They enjoy helping customers make the right decision when purchasing a new Bernina Sewing and Embroidery Machine, Serger, Software or when selecting the best fabric, lace, trims and threads for your sewing projects.

Carole, Karen, Bonnie, Jane and Mary Ann have taught hundreds the basic art of sewing, smocking, quilting, the art of constructing beautiful Heirloom creations and how to use their Bernina Sewing and Embroidery machines and Embroidery Designer Software.

James and Bruce retired from careers with the State of North Carolina in conservation and motor vehicle law enforcement before becoming Bernina Certified Service Technicians. They have trained with master sewing machine technicians from the Bernina factory in Switzerland, Bernina of America and tutored under an experienced all-brand dealer. Bruce and James think they can fix anything and usually do.
