May Lou NallFour Sessions: Heirloom Sewing; Just Needling; Footbook I; Footbook II
Date: September 21-22, 2010
If you missed the two day class presented by Mary Lou Nall, a native of Pensacola, Florida, you really missed a wonderful opportunity to expand your knowledge of your Bernina sewing machine and all its accessories. Mary Lou has been working with Bernina for over 35 years specializing in Bernina accessories and teaches the proper use of accessories for time saving, professional results. For those of us fortunately enough to attend her classes, we left with a wealth of valuable information, and we were all eager to put our new found knowledge to work. As we tried out her instructions on each new unfamiliar foot, there were exclaims of "it's miracle", "wow", "you've got to see this", "no way", etc. Through Mary Lou's patience guidance, we all gained experience of new techniques valuable to all interested in expanding their knowlege of heirloom sewing and other needling techniques. If you missed this class, be sure to sign up for the next one offered by New Bern Fabric Center in the future.

Paula Reid WorkshopMachine Applique - "Batts in the Attic"Date: October 9, 2010 A group of twelve lucky girls assembled on Saturday, October 9th to learn the fine points of floral applique from Paula Reid of California. We learned two methods of machine applique - one using freezer paper and another using Sulky Solvy. The freezer paper method worked very well on pieces having a pointed area whereas the solvy method worked great on curved items like petals. The appliques were stitched in place using a open-toed embroidery foot using clear or smoke monofilament threaded in both top and in the bobbin. The class spent the entire day huddled over their sewing machines(with the exception of a greatful break for a wonderful lunch served by Carol). ![]() For More Pictures - Click Here
