A group of twelve lucky girls assembled on Saturday, October 9th to learn the fine points of floral applique from Paula Reid of California. We learned two methods of machine applique - one using freezer paper and another using Sulky Solvy. The freezer paper method worked very well on pieces having a pointed area whereas the solvy method worked great on curved items like petals. The appliques were stitched in place using a open-toed embroidery foot using clear or smoke monofilament threaded in both top and in the bobbin.
